"Har eb Har" is a textile piece that documents the rising phenomenon of ordering food via popular local apps like Talabat, Rafeeq, and Snoonu. Just a few decades ago, family food gatherings were as important as they are now; however, back then, homemade food was the highlight that brought family members together. Today, due to our fast-paced lifestyles, it is rare for family members to cook at home. Instead, they often order food, even for special family gatherings.
Additionally, just a decade ago, it was uncommon to see motorcycles on the streets of Doha, but now they are everywhere, primarily used by food delivery drivers. The title "Har eb Har" is a local saying that literally means "hot in hot," referring to hot, fresh food delivered to your door. The colors were chosen based on the popular local food delivery apps.
In terms of the graphics, the textile includes several home delivery motorcycles depicted at two different scales to convey a sense of dimension within the landscape. It also features architectural elements such as the streetlights commonly found in Doha and the doors of local villas. Additionally, the textile incorporates a food delivery car. These graphics are specifically designed to complement the slow, deliberate process of weaving the rugs, creating a striking contrast between the fast-paced modern lifestyle and the meticulous craft of textile making.
